House of Humble recently did a post on routines, and it got me thinking about the little things that have become engrained in my daily life. The great thing about routine is that it is a constant, even in times of stress and chaos. Your daily routine is (for the most part) something you can control, and there’s something reassuring about that.
One of my and Mike’s routines is eating a delicious breakfast every morning in our breakfast nook. We wake up to the smell of coffee, thanks to a thrifted coffee percolator on a timer, and eat in front of an incredible painting we found called simply “Goose Man.” Another routine is coming home after a long day to pop some corn and watch Star Trek on Netflix. Derwood usually joins us (and seems pretty into it) as the crew of the Enterprise clear our minds before bed.
